Duane A. "Duke" Norris Obituary (1934 - 2013)

Duane A. "Duke" Norris Charlotte formerly of Eaton Rapids Age 79 died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing following a long illness. Born in Mason, Michigan on February 10, 1934, the son of Ivan and Mary (Purcell) Norris. Duke was a truck driver for all his working career and was a member of the Teamsters local #580 of Lansing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed canning and pickling and gardening. He was a coffee shop person who would spend his time visiting with friends and getting to know strangers. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister and brothers, Ohma, Leo, Don and Billie; son-in-law, Randy Wheeler. Surviving are 4 children, Stephanie (John) Bright of Charlotte, Jeff (Pam Jehner) Norris of Charlotte, Cindy Norris-Wheeler of Charlotte and Dustin Norris of Eaton Rapids; grandchildren, Stacy Penix, Brittany and Samantha Norris, Dillon Norris and Joey Winters; brothers, LeRoy Norris of Charlotte, Ivan "Ike" (Jan) Norris of Onondaga and Ronnie Norris of Stanton; sister, Lucille Greene and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with burial following in the Center Eaton Cemetery in Eaton Township.
