Estill Newsome Obituary (1937 - 2016)

Estill Newsome Of Springport, MI and formerly of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the age of 79. Estill was born on April 15, 1937 in Jacks Creek, KY the son of Quillen and Elizabeth (Johnson) Newsome. He went to work in the coalmines of Kentucky as a young man but decided to move north to look for other work. He made his way to Michigan where he met and married another Kentucky native Thelma Bryant in 1957. Estill went to work for Fisher Body in 1958 and after a few years of employment moved on to McGraw Edison in Albion, MI. He eventually went to work as a farmer, farming several areas throughout Eaton Rapids. Estill retired in 1994 but still stayed very active doing yard work, gardening and working in his shed. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Barbara Gail Newsome; siblings, Marion Thornsbury, Earn Newsome, Magalene Newsome, Lovinia Cooper, Mary Jane Henson; three infant sisters, Hattie, Aggie and Magnolia Newsome. Surviving are his wife, Thelma Newsome; children, Linda (Dean) Mikkelson, Debbie (Jerry) Coffelt, Cindy Hansen, Darrell (Catherine) Newsome, Gloria Newsome, Crystal Newsome; grandchildren, Reatha (Matthew) Gates, Derek (Terina) Rockafellow, Tabitha Rockafellow, Traci Newsome, Jeffrey Newsome, Jared Hansen, Hadley Mikkelson; great grandchildren, Tesla, Allison, Mattison, Reanna, and Justin Gates, Aisha Furgala; sister, Bythia Ellen Arnold; brother, Dewey Newsome and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9 pm.
