June Beatrice Swan Obituary (1929 - 2016)

June Beatrice (McCarthy) Swan Of Eaton Rapids, MI went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the age of 87. She was born on June 19, 1929 the daughter of Ross and Beatrice (Wheeler) McCarthy in Lansing, MI. June grew up in Leslie on the family farm and she was a graduate of Leslie High School, class of 1947. June worked a short time for GM and then became a bookkeeper for Standard Block Inc, King Mobile Homes and for a period of time sold real estate and life insurance. She was actively involved in 4-H with her children and her community. She loved the UP, going hunting, fishing, canoeing and camping. Feeding and watching her birds was one of her favorite pastimes. June was also an avid golfer, a talented artist and loved playing her piano. She loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought special smiles to her face. PSALM 16:1 Preserve me O God; for in You I put my trust. June is survived by her husband of 32 years, James A. Swan; children, Ginger Reed, Joy (Greg) DeJongh, Matthew (Amanda) Miller; step-children, Tami (Rodney) Hector, Roxanne (Tom) Smith; 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, sister, Carol Vandeventer and many family and friends that she holds dear to her heart. June is preceded in death by her parents, infant sons, John Reed and Scott Miller; step-son, Tom Swan and sister, Loraine Murphy. Memorial services will be held in June 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Leslie MI with a reception to follow. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care.
