She married Keith Rathbun on July 15, 1978 and together they enjoyed family activities such as golf, hunting, fishing, skiing and living life to the fullest. She and Keith were lay ministers at St Casmir's Catholic Church in Lansing and they both supported philanthropic endeavors in the greater Lansing area including Michigan State University and the community college. She loved Michigan State football.
They traveled frequently; often to ski, both water and snow; and to fish. Mary visited the Holy Land. They spent part of each winter in Florida, and sometimes with their nephew, Michael McGill and former wife Andrea, in California.
She loved her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, often playing with and helping them. Surviving is her sister, Margaret Hammond McGill of Pleasant Hill, CA and preceding her in death was her husband, Keith Rathbun.
