Michael Simmons

–

Onondaga, Michigan

Mike "Mad Dog" Simmons, aged 55, of Onondaga, MI, peacefully passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, following a brief illness. Born on November 19, 1968, to Michael Joe and Bonnie Jean Simmons of Grand Ledge, Mike attended Grand Ledge High School before embarking on a 28-year career as a Welding Foreman at Meridian Magnesium Products.

In his leisure time, Mike found joy in the thrill of the hunt and the roar of engines, whether it be on his motorcycle, quads, or dirt bikes. An enthusiast of both golf and pool, he actively participated in local leagues. With a knack for craftsmanship, Mike relished in the art of welding and engine tinkering. But perhaps his greatest passion lay in the companionship of his cherished dogs, Max and Meaty, and the company of those closest to his heart. Mike's vibrant spirit will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A dedicated father, companion, and friend, Mike leaves behind his daughters, Hailey Simmons "Baby Mad Dog" of Grand Rapids and Tiffani Ann Simmons (Derrik) of Farwell, along with his only grandson, Brantley Brian Thomas Cotton (Littleman). He also leaves behind his sister, Lisa "Happy Dog" (Jeff) Maag of Lake Odessa; niece, Ashley Maag (Travis) of Lansing; nephew, Jon Boy Maag of Lake Odessa; cousin, Nicholas (Angela), Eli and Ryan Simmons; his soulmate, affectionately known as "Snack Cakes," and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, cousin Mark Simmons, and longtime friends, Arkie Watters, and Ron Kelly.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Skinner Funeral Home Eaton Rapids. Visitation hours are scheduled for Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour before the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ingham County Animal Shelter in Mike's memory. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.SkinnerFuneralHome.com.
