Robert Lee Evett Jr.
Age 73 of Eaton Rapids and formerly of Houghton Lake died on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Born August 4, 1935 in Memphis, TN., the son of Robert L and Eva Christine (Shankle) Evett Sr. Mr. Evett worked in construction for Spartan Asphalt in Lansing retiring after 30 years of service. He retired and moved to the cottage at Houghton Lake to enjoy his retirement. Bob enjoyed tinkering and keeping busy and was a great handyman. He loved the out-of-doors, keeping the yard mowed and working on the pontoon and jet ski's, and spending time fishing for blue gills for the big summer cook out. Preceding him in death was a brother, George Evett.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marie (Zinker) Evett; 3 children, Della Lee Evett of Eaton Rapids, Kenneth (Renee) Evett of Ohio and Tracy (Iman) Gedaoun of Dimondale; 7 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Harold of Turrell AR., Danny, Eddie and Jerry all of Harrisburg, AR.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20th at 1:00 P.M. from the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with the Rev. David Stephens of the Life Christian Church of Lansing, officiating. Burial will follow at the Munger Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
