Thornton A. Johnson Lansing, Michigan Thornton A. Johnson, age 84, known to many as "Thorny," passed away on November 22, 2021 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born June 12, 1937 to Walter & Margaret Johnson (Jensen) in Bath, Michigan. The youngest of 14, Thorny was a bold, strong, stubborn, loving, and devoted father, grandfather, husband, uncle, brother, and friend. He has a love for country music, WWE wrestling, and traveling. The heart of his life were his grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Rose A. Johnson; son, Thornton Ray Johnson Jr.; stepdaughters, Donna Hammell and Deborah VanAlstine; and stepson, Donald Clark Jr. He is survived by his children, Brian K. Johnson, Jennifer (Tyree) Green, Steven (Casey) Johnson, Kay Ellen and Ron Edward; stepchildren, Patrick Clay, Janice and John Clark; special grandchildren, Myia, Trevon, Traci, Tyanna, Rosie, JR, Kyron, Tyler, Dequan and Brianna, and numerous others. He also leaves behind his special animals, Stubby, Chump, Baybea, and Bubba. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Skinner Funeral Home Lansing Chapel.
