Clayton D. Elston Obituary (1926 - 2014)

Clayton D. Elston Eaton Rapids Went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 22, 2014 at age 88. Born May 3, 1926 to William and Anna Elston in Lansing, Michigan. Clayton was a proud veteran honorably serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. He went to work for Oldsmobile in Lansing where he would later retire. Clayton was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Eaton Rapids. He enjoyed being an active member of the Eaton Rapids Senior Center and attending McDonalds for coffee with his buddies. Clayton's untimely passing has left a large void in the lives of all who knew him; he will always be remembered by his family and friends for his devotion to his God and country. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Joyce (Gooch) Elston; second wife, Janet (Norris) Elston; sisters, Ethelda Cataline, Lena Getter; brother, James Elston and his parents. Surviving are his son, Kim (Lee) Elston; daughters, Lonna (Gary) Balsley, Lee Rogers; step-daughters, Jill (Cliff) Knaggs, Judy (Bruce) Zinke; grandchildren, Jason (Sara) Koroniotis, Jerry (Mindy) Tolan, Natalie Koroniotis, Ian Elston, Amy (Jason) Bigg, Mark (Kristin) Rogers, Michael Knaggs, Daniel Knaggs, Ben (Alexa) Colestock, Jody Colestock, Adam Zinke; numerous great- grandchildren; brother, Frank Elston; special neighbors & close friends, Terry & Joann Botsford as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids Chapel with Pastor Marty DeBow officiating.
