Gay Ann Heintzelman Obituary (1949 - 2014)

Gay Ann Heintzelman Eaton Rapids, MI Age 65, died Sunday, November 30, 2014 surrounded by her family. A loving soul was taken from the Earth after a courageous battle with cancer. Gay was born in Charlotte, MI, June 8, 1949 the daughter of Carl and Marilyn (Bodell) Peters. Gay spent her life as a resident of the Eaton Rapids community. She raised her family while working at Trimble Oil and Long Bean and Grain. Gay later worked with the Eaton Rapids Schools. She was involved in the Support Staff Labor Union where she was active on the local, state and national level. She worked in the office at Greyhound Intermediate for 15 years. Gay and her husband, Joe, enjoyed spending their summers at Duck Lake with all of their friends and family, where wonderful memories were created for 28 years. Gay enjoyed golfing and had been a member at Duck Lake Country Club since 1984. Every Friday you could always count on her enjoying a evening with the "Friday Night Golf Crew". She spent her time sewing, quilting, gardening and being close to family and friends. Her true love was her 3 granddaughters, Lilly, Carly and Rachel whom were the light of her life. GG would do anything for them and passed on her experiences and excitement for life. She could often be found volunteering for the Girl Scouts, cheering loudly at soccer games or bundled up at the ice rink supporting her granddaughters. The family would like to express their love and appreciation to their extended family and friends. Your help, support and love that we received at a difficult time will be always cherished. Gay was preceded in death by her father, Carl Peters and father and mother in law, Keith and Vina (Warden) Heintzelman. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Joe; children, Wendy (Scott) Whipple and Craig (Lindsay) Heintzelman; mother, Marilyn Peters; brothers, Michael Peters and Steven (Teresa) Peters; sisters, Carol Peters and Irene (Greg) Myers; brother and sister in law; Keith and Bonnie Heintzelman; granddaughters, Lilly Whipple, Carly Whipple and Rachel Heintzelman. Also surviving are many aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014, 11:00 AM at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids chapel with Rev. Steve Ezop officiating. Interment will follow in Brickyard Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends, Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Girl Scouts Area 341, Eaton Rapids Public Schools or Hospice of Lansing Stoneleigh Residence in memory of Gay.
