Hattie LaVerne Lofton Obituary (1929 - 2016)

Hattie LaVerne Lofton Lansing, MI Passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at age 87. Born July 28, 1929 to George Hugh and Clara Mae (Piper) Hutchins in Lansing, Michigan. Hattie went to work for St. Lawrence as a Nurse's Aide and worked her way up to a Health Unit Coordinator where she retired after 38 years of employment. She was a former member of Valley Farms Baptist Church. Before losing her eyesight, Hattie enjoyed reading, crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed bowling and was involved in many bowling leagues in the Lansing area. Preceding her in death were her husband, Norman Eugene Lofton; son, Norman Eugene (Susan) Lofton II; sisters, Ashley, Edith and Catherine and her parents. Surviving are her 6 children, Betty (Lyle) Keckler, Norma (Patrick) Dell, Hugh (Debra) Lofton, Candace (Richard) Buckmaster, Karen Ware, Kathie Crosby; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Florence Flemming as well as many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel for visitation.
