Jinnie Helen Mills Obituary (1931 - 2016)

Jinnie Helen Mills Of Lansing, MI passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the age of 84. Jinnie was born on August 12, 1931 in Itawamba County, Mississippi the daughter of William and Mary (Tallant) Harber. She moved to Lansing, MI in 1957 and married her husband James C. Mills on November 14, 1959. Jinnie was a dedicated wife and stay at home mom; she was very involved with her children's schooling and volunteered as a 'room mother' at the local school. Jinnie's home was an after school hangout for many of the neighborhood children were she would cook and feed the kids. She loved to cook and bake her specialty and family favorite was her red velvet cake. Jinnie is preceded in death by her siblings, Shirley Smith, Lila Ford, Hazel Pearson, Donald Harber and Earlene Heath. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, James Mills; daughters, Brenda (Bob) Betts, Tammy (Andy) McClelland, Sandra Mills; grandchildren, Jinnie McClelland (Matt), Andrew McClelland (Selina Luna); great granddaughter, Aleigha McClelland; step great grandson, Vinnie; sisters, Jewel Green, Bobbie Warren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
