John Weeden-Henry Bowman Obituary (1936 - 2013)

John Weeden-Henry Bowman Lansing Age 76, passed away December 1, 2013; born Dec. 19, 1936 to Grant and Rhoda (Beebe) Bowman in Kalamazoo, MI. Raised by foster parents - Oliver and Edith (Canfield) Miller in Dimondale, MI. Graduated from Dimondale High in 1954. John was a lifelong Detroit Tigers and baseball fan, in which he kept baseball stats for about 60 years. Also a big fan of the Lansing Lugnuts, Michigan State football and basketball. He and wife Nancy went with the WITL radio tour to Country Music Fan Fair in Nashville, TN every June for over 20 years. Was a member of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church of God. From 1966-1993, he worked in the Linen Room at Ingham Medical Center hospital (now McLaren Greater Lansing - Greenlawn Campus). He married his beloved wife, Nancy (Sedelmaier) Bowman on June 15, 1968; they were married for 40 years until she died on Aug. 17, 2008. Besides his wife Nancy, he was preceded in death by his daughter Constance "Connie" Mulvin of Des Moines, Iowa in May 2012; son-in-law Tim Mulvin in Oct. 2013; foster sister Emojane "Janie" Jurney in 2005; and 1st wife Carole (Zahnle). Survived by his children: Colleen (Walt) Stewart of Steeleville, IL; sons Timothy Bowman and Jerry Bowman, both of Lansing; daughter Penny Guajardo, also of Lansing, MI. Grandchildren Perry Byron Jr., Robert Byron, Elizabeth Mulvin, all of Iowa; Ruby Guajardo of Lansing, Jose "Junior" Guajardo of Georgia; and Victoria, Emilio, and Annalicia Guajardo. Six Great-Grandchildren. Sisters: Rosey Thomas of Marshall, MI and Mariam Martinez of Coldwater, MI. Brother-in-law, John (Ronna Lee) Sedelmaier of Grand Ledge, MI. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and Sedelmaier family in-laws. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 1pm at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel, 101 W. Jolly Rd., Lansing, MI 48910, with Rev. Tim Craft of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church of God officiating. Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Delta Township. The family will receive visitors from 6-8pm on Wednesday, and one hour before the service.
