John "Ted" Weaver Obituary (1919 - 2012)

John "Ted" Rolland Edward Weaver Eaton Rapids Age 93, died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Eaton County Medical Care Facility in Charlotte. Ted was born June 19, 1919 in South Hampton England, the son of Rolland and Laura (Bailey) Weaver. His family moved to the United States where he graduated from Charlotte High School. Ted served his country in the US Army during World War II, stationed in the Aleutian Islands. He had worked for a short while as a truck driver for Miller's Dairy in Eaton Rapids and while there met his future bride Dolly. He spent the next several years as a Master Electrician working for Nicholas Electric in Eaton Rapids and later began working Skilled Trades for General Motors in Lansing retiring in 1997 at the age of 78. Ted had a great work ethic taking care of his Arabian horses during the day and working nights for General Motors while still having time to always help family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Spartans, Lions and Tigers, but above all he was a family man and loved his family dearly. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, Waldo; sister, Lena Wells; and grandson, Robert "Robbie" Cambric in 1989. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Kathryn "Dolly"; 5 children, Bruce Weaver, Charlotte (Bob) Kendregan, Susan (Kent) McDaniels, Julie (Mike) Wright and Jon Weaver; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids with visitation at the funeral home 1 hour prior to service time. Burial of cremated remains will follow at the Pope Church Cemetery in Rives Junction. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Ted Weaver.
