Jose "Joseph" G. Cervantes Obituary (1931 - 2019)

Jose "Joseph" Guadalupe Cervantes Of Eaton Rapids, Michigan passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the age of 87. Joe was born November 26, 1931 in Brownsville, Texas and the third child of Guadalupe and Eulogia (Torres) Cervantes. Joe moved to Lansing at the age of 15 and attended Pattengale High School. Joe worked on a family farm growing up and then went on to Allied Products in Eaton Rapids, Springport Steel, Edison Steel and eventually went to work for UPS where he retired in 1990. Joe was a very talented musician with a passion for singing and playing music. He performed with many local bands in the Eaton Rapids and Lansing area. Joe also loved dancing, listening to country music and watching old western movies with his wife, Petra. He is preceded in death by his parents, children, Larry Cervantes, Susan Cervantes; siblings, Sisco Cervantes, Chevelle Ruiz and Janie Torres. Joe is survived by his wife, Petra (Soto) Cervantes; children, David Cervantes, Robert (Kimberly) Cervantes, Tom (Robin) Cervantes, Jim (Bonnie) Cervantes, Ray Cervantes, Janie Taylor; grandchildren, Stacey Lemon, Eric Cervantes, Kyle Cervantes, Heidi Cervantes-Yarbrough, Shantell Baker, Elizabeth Walden, Melissa Dixon, Elisha Cervantes, Jeremy Cervantes, Sean Cervantes, Seirra Foster, Justin Taylor, Jonathan Taylor, Julie Taylor, Lisa Cervantes, Patricia Waldron, Rebecca Powell-Steele, Jennifer Cervantes, Christopher Cervantes, Cassandra Cervantes and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Skinner Funeral Homes, Eaton Rapids Chapel with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. For those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the family.
