June Adalyne James

–

Eaton Rapids, MI

June James passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, with family at her side after just celebrating her 90th birthday with her whole family on June 13th, 2024. She was the Eaton Rapids librarian for many years and enjoyed sharing her "love of books" to everyone. She always found a book that could fit your specific desire or awaiting project. She shared many books with her family members and other little ones too and often had a little one on her lap attentive listening to a book. You could rarely find a time that she did not have a book in her hand and quite a few ready on her end table within reach.
June also had a talent to make any room look nice and neat and included bookshelves. She and husband Fred loved going to garage sales and thrift shops and she had a "knack" of making the new cherished item fit in exactly the right spot.
June attended the Wesleyan church (now Thrive), where she taught Sunday school to 1st and 2nd graders who loved to hear the bible stories with her added "flare".
June is survived by daughter, Shelley (Mike) Castagnasso, son Fred (Sheryl) James, cherished grandchildren, Mike Naylor; Stacey (Jim) Clickner; Craig (Angie) Castagnasso; Andy (Chelsy Jones) James; and the late John R. James, loved great grandchildren, Seth Clickner; Kylie Clickner and Hayden James. Brother-in- law - Jim Meyer, Nieces: Judy (Jim) Phillips and Barbara (Bob) Carter. She is preceded in death by husband Fred M. James, sister Janet Meyer, parents Ted (Irene) Carr, and Malinda (Ted) Tolman, and grandson, John James.
The family would like to thank the staff at Island City Assisted Living for the exceptional love and care she received during the last 6 years.
The celebration of June's life will be held at a graveside service, at Rosehill Cemetery in Eaton Rapids on Monday, July 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM where all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Thrive church, Island City Assisted Living or Eaton Rapids Library in memory of June James.
