Rex Delbert Dingee Obituary (1932 - 2017)

Rex D. Dingee Age 85 of Springport passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017 in Charlotte, MI. Rex was born on May 2, 1932 in Napoleon, MI., the son of Lancing and Ruth (Jones) Dingee. Rex served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired after 45 years as a Tile Setter and had worked for Maddalena's and Collins Brothers both companies out of Jackson, MI. Rex's passion for his trade shone through in his work. He always paid the utmost attention to detail and was often requested by builders and repeat customers. His greatest loves were the United States Marine Corps and his family. He enjoyed the Steam Engine Shows and often traveled throughout the state to attend them. When the train whistle blew you would hear him sing Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash. He loved the outdoors and fishing. Always looking for someone to go fishing with or in his later years to take him fishing. If he wasn't outdoors, you could find him inside watching an old western on TV. He wintered in Arizona and stayed with his Brother Ken. They kept busy going camping, attending card parties and working with Ken in his woodworking shed. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends... Preceding him in death were his 2nd wife, Barbara Christensen Dingee; a son-in-law, Mike Johns; sister, Barbara Miller; brothers, Jerry and Ernie Dingee. Surviving are 5 children, Debra Townley of Jackson, Patricia Johns of Charlotte, Gregory Dingee of Battle Creek and Kimberly (David) Eddy of Springport; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; sister, Doris "Gert" Faulkner of Albion; 3 brothers, Art Dingee of Grass Lake, Kenneth Dingee of Mesa, AZ. and Harold "Hink" Dingee of Springport; sister-in-law, Doris Dingee of Olivet; several nieces and nephews. There will be no services at this time and a memorial gathering will take place in the near future. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Springport United Methodist Church.
